21st Century Spanish Guitar

Adam Levin’s playing is superb—no technical difficulties, lovely tone, wide range of dynamics and articulation. …I can’t imagine them played with more conviction, expression, and sheer joy.

Kenneth Keaton
American Record GuideSeptember 2013

This first of four volumes represents award-winning guitarist Adam Levin’s major collaboration with the new century’s ‘Spanish Masters’. Bridges to the past include medieval sources in the Secuencia Sefardita and Baroque in the unconventional variations of Handeliana. These stand alongside pastoral scenes in Viento de Primavera and a celebration of Albéniz from Leonardo Balada. From contemplative moods to spectacular virtuosity, this is a musical voyage both unexpected and unforgettable. Adam Levin has been acclaimed for his ‘enviable technique’ and a ‘high musicianship which shines like a beacon through his performances’. (Classical Guitar magazine)

Fuego De La Luna

"There is no doubt that we have, before us, one of  the most exceptional guitarists and chamber musicians of our time."
--- Eduardo Morales-Caso, Spanish Composer

This latest release is the result of an intense, creative, decade-long journey on the part of composer Morales-Caso. The necessity to feel a different sound which is personal, sensitive and communicative, is inextricably linked to the rich inheritance of his predecessors. On this journey, Morales-Caso dedicates special attention to one of his most loved instruments: the guitar. He has placed his faith in the generosity and humanity of those with whom he shares this wonderful path and forges the indestructible bond between composer-performer. The trusted guitarist: Adam Levin, along with other fine collaborating artists, in this singular recording is the reflection of the creative and personal manifestation that is Eduardo Morales-Caso.

Music From Out Of Time

Adam Levin not only performs as soloist but in three different chamber music combinations: guitar duo, muted trumpet and guitar, and string quartet and guitar. Spain immediately triggers a familiarity with the nationalist epoch in its music history (flamenco, rasqueado, cante jondo) and this CD endeavors to bridge the gap between the traditional and contemporary musical languages. Works by Eduardo Morales-Caso, José María Sánchez Verdú, David del Puerto, Mario Gosalvez-Blanco and Leonardo Balada.
